Ayman Youssef Mansour, a 22-year-old engineering clerk was arrested and sentenced to three years in prison for insulting Islam on his Facebook page, which has since been taken off of the internet. He was the second blogger jailed after the fall of Mubarak, and the first to be tried in a civilian court.
On October 22, 2011, Mansour was sentenced to three years in prison for writing something that “intentionally insulted the dignity of the Islamic religion and attacked it with insults and ridicule on Facebook.” He was also convicted of "promoting extremist ideas" and "inciting sectarianism". Unfortunately, the contents of his Facebook page have been removed and the press released no further details about the comments that led to his arrest.
