Libyan blogger criticizes proliferation of security personnel
| July 21, 2010 |
Blogger Salim Naser Al Roqai recently spoke out against the hiring of large numbers of unemployed by the security apparatus in Libya.
“The current trend is to hire all the unemployed to the state police and security agencies, to the point where there will be ten security agents assigned to each Libyan!” Al Roqai said. “It sounds like the doors for decent work have been closed and there is only work with the security agencies controlled by Muammar al-Qaddafi.”
Al Roqai argues that the trend is to militarize all aspects of life in Libya so everybody would be submissive to Qaddafi.
Al Roqai is a Libyan intellectual who is living in exile in London and runs the blog ‘Ana Libi Muhajer,’ which translates to, ‘I am a Libyan Immigrant.’
